How reverse osmosis works

From raw feed to product water in six stages

Water is forced through a semi permeable membrane with very small pores. Clean water passes, the impurities stay behind.

01Raw feed

Well, municipal or sea water enters the plant.

02Multi media filter

Sand and media layers remove suspended solids.

03Cartridge filter

Fine cartridges protect the pumps and membranes.

ROMembrane

04High pressure pump

Pushes water against the membrane's osmotic pressure.

05RO membranes

Salts and impurities are rejected to the brine line.

06UV & product tank

Sterilized product water, often under 300 ppm.
